Our Mining Engineers work in different types of roles within Rio Tinto business units throughout the globe.


Mining Engineers perform engineering support such as surveying, as well as mine planning - from short-term to life-of-mine planning. In addition mining engineers assist in developing engineering/mine planning models. Mining Engineers evaluate, select and apply standardized engineering procedures and techniques to assignments with clear, specific objectives as well as providing the mine with daily, weekly, monthly and annual mine plans.



Qualifications:

- Drive a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Rio Tinto's safety,

health and environmental standards and procedures

- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mining Engineering

- 3 to 10 years experience in the mining industry

- Experience as an Operations Supervisor is desirable

- Familiarity with Mine Planning software - Vulcan, Xpac scheduling software and

Xeras financial modeling software

- Strong leadership, Good communications and teamwork for investment in the

work by operations, technical, maintenance and processing personnel is essential

- Knowledge of fundamental mining concepts, practices and procedures is required
