Key Functions The candidate should demonstrate experience in the analysis of large data sets focused on data mining, text mining, or statistical modeling to derive plausible hypotheses. The candidate will also create well-defined models for describing phenomena, and transform the models into tractable algorithms.
Required Education/Experience: BS or equivalent and 5 years of related experience or MS or equivalent and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 1 year of related experience

Desired Education/Experience MS or PhD preferred. Experience across a number of data and text mining techniques; experience with machine learning as well as statistical approaches and knowledge of Natural Language Processing are a plus.
Required Skills: Candidate will exhibit leadership qualities, have prior experience working with senior management to find solutions to client problems, and be able to provide guidance as needed to other team members. In addition, the candidate will be a subject matter expert in data and text mining. Demonstrated experience in the following areas are required:
• Exploratory data analysis and data mining process of large data sets
• Software development skills (C/C++, Perl, Java, SQL, etc.)
• Creation and implementation of statistical predictive models including classification, clustering, and text mining algorithms
• Knowledge of major data mining platforms and applications and experience using
major statistical analysis packages
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to deal with ambiguous situations
• Advanced writing, verbal, and presentation skills

Desired Skills Experience assessing the statistical significance of performance differences between models is preferred; e.g. hypothesis testing to compare a model with new features to an already deployed model; familiarity with model selection based on resampling; e.g. using cross validation to select hyperparameters (the parameters used to construct a model).
